On 20th July 1841, the poet John Clare left High Beach asylum in Epping Forest and walked the ninety miles home. The journey took him four days and he slept beside the road.

Walking Home is an immersive video installation continuing Clare’s journey of love, mourning, and defiance. Setting his poems to film, it blends time and geography to interrogate our relationship with the land around us.
